The food discovery journal with my precious Little Ones, Captain E and Baby C. It doesn't take a genius to cook up a storm, all you need is a lot of tender loving care, with a dash of patience. Childhood only comes once, so let's make it a great one for our Little Ones.

Baby Food: Healthy Noodle Soup
Baby C has porridge most of the time, once in a while I'll cook some pasta or noodles for a change of texture and taste. Now that she has 8 teeth, I reduce the cooking time as she enjoys chewing with her tiny teeth.
This is a simple soup noodle cooked using no added flavoring other than the homemade anchovies powder. Method of preparation for the anchovies powder is available here.
For baby's early food I will avoid any article coloring/flavoring, additive and will go salt-free if possible. After 2 yo I shall go easy as their digestive systems are more mature.
Made these noodle soup for baby C lunch and brought the remaining out for second feeding, this way she can eat her noodle the same time we have our meal in restaurant. :)
Preparation Time: 15 min
Cooking Time: 15 min
Serving for: 2 meals
Ingredients:
1 noodle (used unbleached, non-oil fried preferred)
1/4 cup carrots, diced
1/4 cup sweet potatoes, diced
1/4 cup cabbage, thinly sliced
For soup base:
2 rice bowls of water
1 teaspoon of anchovies powder
Step-by-Step Guides:
1. Boil the water in hot pot, add the anchovies powder, carrots and sweet potatoes.
2. Cook for 5 minutes with lid closed,
Then add the cabbage. Boil for another 5 minutes.
3. Add the noodle and cook for 5 minutes (or according to the time indicated on the packaging). I cook it a bit longer than the suggested timing as I wanted to ensure the noodle is easy to chew for my baby C.
4. Dish out the noodles, cut into short stripes of about 1cm each so it's easier for baby to eat.
You can serve the noodles immediately, or you may store them into a thermos for later feeding. When going out, I'll bring the noodles in separate food container and the soup in thermos to avoid the noodle from becoming soggy when served later.
Useful Reminder
You may substitute the vegetables according to your preference, but do ensure you cut them into chewable size.
If serving to younger baby please ensure you cook the vegetables for longer time until you can easily smashed the potatoes and carrots to avoid chocking.
This is the whole meal noodle I used today, the remaining was used to cook fried noodle for our dinner, it was nice and my little boy loved them too. :)

First Milestone: 10,000 Visits!
Finally, the total page view for this blog had passed the 10,000 mark within just 5 months of its creation... Thanks to your patronage :)
Does it matters? It doesn't really bring any monetary income after all... Well, after all I did not start blogging with intention to make money, but rather to share my journey as a foodie mom and it feels great to know that people from around the world actually read the stuff I shared, and it's an assurance that I'm not doing this in vain.
Once again, thanks for the support and likes, hope you continue to find something useful here!

Octopus Spaghetti in Homemade Tomato Sauce 自制番茄酱“墨鱼”意大利面
This year, my little boy's birthday party is all about being a captain, as in the captain who sailed the sea. So I have made him a captain hat, a sailor shirt, setup all the party decorations according to the pirate theme and of course, the food arrangement shall follow suit, right?
So, instead of the conventional spaghetti bolognese or standard presentation, I made these Little Octopus Pasta, to complement the party theme. These little pastas were a big hit in the party due to its amusing presentation, everyone from little ones to adult were keen to give it a try. With the homemade tomato sauce, this is definitely a child friendly dish. I gave some pasta to my 1 year old baby too, just minus the sausages.

Happy New Year and a Sum Up for 2012. 回顾2012
Happy New Year to all my blog fans. I know it's a bit late but still better than never right? ;)
Thanks for sticking with me for the past few months. I have not been cooking as frequent as I would like too due to work, kids, family and new found interest (yes, crafting & sewing!), however when making these photo collage I realized I have managed to try my hands on quite a variety of food within the past few months.
Here are the photo gallery and the quick links for you to direct access to your favorite recipe.
I hope to hear from you more as blog writing is quite a lonely journey (perhaps because I always blog when everyone is asleep :). While I'm grateful that my Facebook fan page have grown to 51 members as of today, I look forward to hearing feedbacks from you on the meals or recipes I have shared so I know where to improve..

My new year aspiration? Laugh more, travel more, craft more, cook more and love abundantly. May God bless us all :)
