Orange Booster Smoothies - Orange, Honey, Lemon & Banana

Big Guy is working late tonight, in fact he had been staying up late these few nights, so I whipped up this vitamin C booster smoothie for him before I head off to bed.

Here's a big cup my Big Guy...

And one slightly smaller cup for myself as reward... :)

Why I called this Booster Smoothie? Simple because...
  • The oranges and lemon are famous suppliers of vitamin C as we all know.
  • Manuka honey is recognized for its immunity booster and anti-bacterial functions and often used to treat sore throat or skin problem (that explains why it's way more expensive than normal honey).
  • Banana is rich in potassium which helps to keep the blood pressure level under check and do you know that it is also known as an anti-depression fruit? :)
So with all these goodness (in fact I only listed some of their known benefits), this smoothie is a healthy "supper" and breakfast choice.

This yummy smoothie is suitable for 1 yo onward, just reduce the ice cubes and add more fresh milk. Personally I would avoid serving cold drinks to my little one at such young age. If this is the first time you serving honey to your little one, do watch out for potential allergy symptom within first 3 days of feeding.

Ingredients:
3 medium oranges, peeled & seeds removed
2 medium ripe bananas
1/2 lemon
3-4 table spoons of Manuka honey / agave sweetener (adjust according to your liking)
10 ice cubes
1/3 cup fresh milk or 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream (optional, for the extra creaminess and/or calcium)

Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Serving for: 2 cups / 800ml

The Simple Steps:
Wash & cut all the fruits into cube size.
Blend on high speed for about 30 seconds, add ice cubes and blend till smooth.
Enjoy immediately to absorb all the goodness... Slurrppp!
